Red Wings Vs. Hurricanes: Nicklas Lidstrom Will Return From Injury

The Detroit Red Wings have been banged up pretty badly on many fronts, never a good sign with the NHL Playoffs right around the corner. Defenseman Nicklas Lidstrom is one of those players, who was listed as a game-time decision for Detroit's game against the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday at the Joe Louis Arena. With the puck set to drop, Ansar Khan of mlive.com is reporting that Lidstrom will be in action for the Red Wings.

There's a good chance that he'll have limited minutes, but any news of returning players is good news in any situation, and especially for the Red Wings at this point, again, with the playoffs about the start. Lidstrom suffered a deep bone bruise on his right ankle on Feb. 26, and the decision came down do how he felt in pre-game warm-ups.

Detroit waited until the final minutes to announce that Lidstrom would play, and that's likely because they were waiting to see if Lidstrom experienced any soreness following said warm-ups. Some expected him to play after he skated for the sixth-straight day in practice early on Saturday. The game is set to begin at 7:00 p.m. eastern
