The Original Six rivalry continues on Sunday at the Joe, in the fifth of six meetings between the two teams this season. The first four games have been split, each being decided by a goal.
The two teams will be without key players due to injuries, though. Jonathan Toews will be out as a result of lingering concussion symptoms he has experienced since being involved in a car accident. The Red Wings' captain Nicklas Lidstrom will also sit out due to a deep ankle bone bruise. Lidstrom is expected to be re-evaluated on Monday. Lastly, Pavel Datsyuk will also be scratched while he continues to recover from arthroscopic knee surgery, an injury he suffered during the morning skate around in Chicago on February 21.
Both teams are riding two-game winning streaks, but the Red Wings have a comfy 12-point cushion in the Central Division as the season winds down.
Puck drops at 4 p.m. and will be aired nationally on NHL Network.
