Panthers Vs. Red Wings: Detroit Looks For Win Over Florida With Playoffs In Sight

Detroit and Florida both try to end losing streaks.

The Detroit Red Wings should be happy to put the month of March in their rear-view mirror as they begin April by hosting the Florida Panthers on Sunday afternoon.

Once the top team in the Western Conference, the Wings are currently in fifth place after winning just two of their last ten games and finishing March with a 4-10 record. Even the return of goaltender Jimmy Howard on Friday couldn't help the Wings as Howard allowed three goals in Detroit's 4-1 loss to Nashville. The game against Florida begins the final week of the regular season which should grab the Wings' attention with the playoffs fast approaching.

Florida is also trying to round into playoff form after struggling through March. The Panthers have lost five of their last six games including a 4-1 loss at Columbus on Friday for their second loss in a row.

The game is set to start at 4:00 p.m. ET and will be televised on Fox Sports Detroit and the NHL Network.
