It's going to be a tough one for the Detroit Red Wings if they want to avoid their first elimination in the first round since way back in 2006. Back then, the Edmonton Oilers shocked the world as an eight seed en route to a Stanley Cup final appearance against the Carolina Hurricanes. This year, Detroit didn't have quite as many expectations going in as a five seed but will still be disappointed if they drop this series to a team that they had never lost to at home in the playoffs prior to this season.
Remember that in 2011, the Wings caught the San Jose Sharks sleeping on a 3-0 series lead and came back to force Game 7, so even though the Wings are facing elimination on Friday there is still some hope in Motown for a dramatic comeback. They'll have to start one in Nashville, though, and their road record over the past few months has been mediocre at best.
