The Detroit Red Wings can take a big step toward clinching the No. 4 spot in the playoffs Thursday when they host the New Jersey Devils.
The Wings have clinched a playoff spot, but with two games to play seeding remains entirely up in the air.
Detroit moved back into fourth place with its come-from-behind win Wednesday over the St. Louis Blues. The win gave Detroit 101 points on the season and put them one point ahead of No. 5 Nashville (100 points) and three points ahead of the No. 6 Chicago Blackhawks (98).
Detroit, Nashville and Chicago each have two games remaining. Nashville hosts Dallas before heading to Colorado, while Chicago plays at Minnesota before the season finale in Detroit.
The Devils face no such uncertainty. They are currently No. 6 in the Eastern Conference and, with a six-point cushion over No. 7 Ottawa, can't go any lower. They could, with some luck (and some wins) catch No. 5 Philly.
The game will start at 7:30 ET and air on Fox Sports Detroit.
