The Detroit Red Wings have signed 2010 first-round pick Riley Sheahan to a three-year entry level contract, according to the Red Wings' official Twitter account.
The tweet read thus:
NEWS: The Red Wings have signed Riley Sheahan to a three year entry level contract. Per club policy, terms are undisclosed.
— Detroit Red Wings (@DetroitRedWings) April 5, 2012
Sheahan, who recently finished his college career at Notre Dame, signed a tryout contract on March 20 and had been playing with the Wings' AHL affiliate in Grand Rapids.
It is unlikely that Sheahan will suit up for Detroit in either of the final two regular season game or in the postseason. Still, he will likely be part of the group that practices with the team during the playoffs.
