After 20 seasons with the Red Wings, Nicklas Lidstrom retired from the NHL on Thursday.
↵On Friday night, he was out on the town, taking in bits of the Tigers game before heading over to Joe Louis Arena for the Red Hot Chili Peppers concert.
↵At one point during the show, RHCP drummer Chad Smith, who grew up a Red Wings fan in Bloomfield Hills where he graduated from Lahser High School, gave a little speech about how he grew up in Michigan and has had some great memories at the Joe. He then talked a little about Lidstrom before announcing that he was in the building and coming on stage.
↵Lidstrom then entered stage left to an electric ovation. After almost a minute of cheers, Lidstrom got on the mic and said that, despite having some incredible moments at the Joe over the past 20 years, this -- this moment at a RHCP concert -- "might top it all:"
