The Detroit Red Wings' fifth pick on Saturday was another defenseman. For the second straight round, the Red Wings went with defense, this time selecting James De Haas.
De Haas, who is from Ontario, has played in Toronto the past three seasons. In 2011-12, he was with the Toronto Lakeshore of the OJHL. He scored 10 goals and had 19 assists for 29 points in 45 games. The two seasons before that, he was with the Toronto Marlboros of the GTHL.

Round 3 (80) - G Jake Paterson
Round 4 (110) - C/LW Andreas Athanasiou
Round 5 (140) - D Michael McKee
Round 6 (170) - D James De Haas
The Red Wings' final pick of the draft will be the 200th overall selection (in the seventh round).
