Shots Fired: Red Wings, Kings Exchange Jabs On Twitter

With another NHL lockout expected to begin in the near future, it remains to be seen if we will get to see the Detroit Red Wings battle the defending Stanley Cup champion Los Angeles Kings on the ice in 2012-13. Off the ice, the Red Wings and Kings started going at it over the weekend by chirping at each other on Twitter.

Here's a look at the back-and-forth exchange (via Fox Sports Detroit):

The Kings' Twitter feed has been extremely entertaining going back to when last season's playoffs began, but that last tweet was pretty weak. It's not like it's been decades since the Red Wings last won the Stanley Cup. In fact, it was only four years ago that the Red Wings got to spend the offseason with the Cup after winning it for the 11th time in franchise history. The Kings deserve credit for winning their first-ever Stanley Cup this year, but they've got a long, long way to go to catch the Red Wings.
