Cabrera hit .328/.420/.622 with 38 home runs and 126 RBIs in 648 plate appearances this season for Detroit. His batting average and RBI total led AL first baseman. Only the White Sox's Paul Konerko hit more homers, with 39.

This is the third time Cabrera has won Silver Slugger honors. His previous two awards were in 2005 (outfield) and 2006 (third base) with the Florida Marlins

Cabrera is the first Tiger to get a Silver Slugger since 2007, when Magglio Ordonez and Placido Polanco won at their positions.
