Last week, the Tigers released their 2011 spring training schedule. Like always, the Tigers will play their home games in the spring in Lakeland, Florida. The 2011 spring training season will actually be the Tigers' 75th in Lakeland and their 46th at Joker Marchant Stadium. The 75-year relationship between Lakeland and the Tigers is currently the longest in Major League Baseball between a spring training host city and its team.
↵Detroit's first game in Lakeland will be an exhibition matchup on Friday, Feb. 25, 2011. The Tigers will play host to Florida Southern before heading on the road to Dunedin a day later to play the Blue Jays in Grapefruit League action. Detroit's first Grapefruit League home game will come against the Blue Jays on Feb. 27. Here is more on the schedule:
↵↵↵The schedule is highlighted by three visits from the National League East Division Champion Philadelphia Phillies on March 6, March 9 and March 26. The schedule also features visits from the New York Yankees on February 28, Boston Red Sox on March 15 and Atlanta Braves on March 19.
