We're a little bit late with this news, as the Tigers have been making a lot of news with their major league roster. But the team officially named new managers for their Single-A and Double-A affiliates last week.
↵Chris Cron takes over in the dugout at Double-A Erie, replacing Phil Nevin, who moved up to Triple-A Toledo. Cron spent the last seven seasons in the Chicago White Sox organization, and has 16 years of minor league managerial experience. Last year, he led the Rookie League team in Great Falls to a first-place (47-28) finish and was named the Pioneer League's Manager of the Year.
↵Dave Huppert is the new manager in Single-A Lakeland. He takes over for Andy Barkett, who took a job with the Florida Marlins to manage their Double-A team in Jacksonville. Huppert comes from the Philadelphia Phillies system, where he's worked for the last five years. Huppert managed the Phillies' Triple-A affiliate in Lehigh Valley over the past three seasons. He brings 21 years of minor league experience to the Tigers' organization.
