The injury Miguel Cabrera suffered on Monday night turned out to be a high ankle sprain. As a result, Cabrera will miss the final six games of the season, bringing his 2010 campaign to a slightly early close.
Although it would have been nice for Cabrera to play in a few more games to pad his stats a bit, they are still very impressive. With 38 home runs, 126 runs batted in and a batting average of .328, Cabrera had an MVP-caliber season if you ask me, so it will be interesting to see how that vote plays out when a winner is announced in November.
Jim Leyland was asked today to sum up the season Cabrera had, and his response was simple yet effective: "MVP." I can't disagree with that one bit.
