Doug Fister got off to a sluggish start in the bottom of the 2nd inning (it sounds and was weird to see the Tigers start off in the field at Yankee Stadium), allowing consecutive hits to Jorge Posada just over the glove of Ryan Raburn at second and then a double to Russell Martin. Things looked as ominous as the weather in NYC the past couple nights with two runners in scoring position and nobody out.
However, Fister settle down. He induced a grounder to Brandon Inge, who was in at third. Inge was able to catch Posada cheating toward home and run at him for the first out of the inning.
After a balk that took away a double play, Fister then struck out Jeter and Granderson to end the inning and escape the jam.
Ivan Nova will take the mound for the Yankees in the top of the 3rd inning for the Yankees. The score is tied 1-1.
