Tigers Vs. Rangers Score: Detroit Takes 2-1 Lead In 5th Inning

The Detroit Tigers offense hasn't exactly come alive in Game 3 of the ALCS, but it has shown signs of life. With Doug Fister pitching pretty well, that might be enough to get them a win on Tuesday night.

The Tigers went down in the first inning after Fister gave up three straight singles. He got out of the jam with only one run scoring, and he has only allowed three hits in the four innings since then.

For the Texas Rangers, Colby Lewis was shutting the Tigers down until the fourth inning. That's when Victor Martinez hit a solo home run to right field to tie the game up. Unfortunately, Martinez appeared to injure his oblique on the swing. He threw his helmet down upon entering the dugout and went straight to the clubhouse. He stayed in the game and was walked during his next at-bat, but he looks banged up.

The walk to Martinez actually loaded the bases in the fifth inning during a rally that started with two outs. Austin Jackson and Ramon Santiago both singled, and despite a gimpy Martinez being on deck, the Rangers decided to pitch to Miguel Cabrera. That turned out to be a mistake by Texas, because Cabrera doubled in a run to give the Tigers a 2-1 lead.

Don Kelly grounded out with the bases loaded after the Martinez walk, meaning the score remained 2-1 as Game 3 went into the sixth inning.
