The Detroit Tigers followed up a disappointing loss in Game 1 of the ALDS against the New York Yankees with a big win on Sunday in Game 2. The win evened up the series, which shifts to Detroit on Monday night for Game 3. Game 4 will also be played in Detroit, meaning the Tigers currently hold homefield advantage.
Just like the 2006 ALDS against the Yankees, the Tigers are hoping the series doesn't get a chance to shift back to New York. In 2006, the Tigers dropped Game 1 before winning three straight to eliminate the Yankees. To pull that off again this year, they will need a strong performance from Justin Verlander on Monday night and a strong performance from Rick Porcello on Tuesday in Game 4.
Here's the Tigers lineup for Game 3 of the series:
1. Austin Jackson, CF
2. Ramon Santiago, 2B
3. Delmon Young, LF
4. Miguel Cabrera, 1B
5. Victor Martinez, DH
6. Magglio Ordonez, RF
7. Jhonny Peralta, SS
8. Alex Avila, C
9. Brandon Inge, 3B
Pitching: Justin Verlander
And here's the Yankees Game 3 lineup, which is the same as their lineup in the first two games:
1. Derek Jeter, SS
2. Curtis Granderson, CF
3. Robinson Cano, 2B
4. Alex Rodriguez, 3B
5. Mark Teixeira, 1B
6. Nick Swisher, RF
7. Jorge Posada, DH
8. Russell Martin, C
9. Brett Gardner, LF
Pitching: CC Sabathia
