Shortly after it was announced that Game 2 is postponed until Monday due to inclement weather in Arlington, Jim Leyland told reporters that there won't be a repeat of the 2006 ALCS:
The injury is to the same ankle Ordonez hurt last year -- he broke it -- which could mean that this is not only the end of his postseason but possibly his career, as well.
It's the second Tigers' outfielder who has been lost for the ALCS. At least when Delmon Young left Game 5 of the ALDS, Tigers fans for the most part feared it would be an oblique injury and that his status for the ALCS would be up in the air. Ordonez's injury is completely out of the blue. Ordonez wasn't hitting for any power, but he was hitting .385/.467/.928 in five playoff games. Expect for Andy Dirks and Ryan Raburn to see more playing time as a result of the injury, and they need to step up.
