The Detroit Tigers open the 2011 baseball season this afternoon against the New York Yankees. They have tomorrow off and will complete the series with a game on Saturday and a game on Sunday. After that, Detroit will head to Baltimore to take on another team from the AL East, the Orioles. That three-game series will start on Monday and include a day off on Tuesday.
↵Following this six-game road trip to begin the season, the Tigers will head home for their first game of 2011 at Comerica Park on April 8. They will take on the Kansas City Royals for three games and then host the Texas Rangers from April 11-13 to finish the homestand.
↵The first west coast road trip of the season will get started on April 14 against the Oakland Athletics. It is a four-game series set to take place from April 14-17. The west coast road trip will continue from April 18-20 as the Tigers take on the Seattle Mariners at Safeco Field.
↵The month of April will wind down with two series at home and the first road series against a team from the AL Central. The Chicago White Sox are set to come to Detroit for games on April 22-24, and the Mariners will be in town from April 26-28. The Tigers will hit the road to take on the Cleveland Indians from April 29-May 1 as they wrap up the first full month of the 2011 season.
