Tigers, Yankees Battle In Home Run Derby At Yankee Stadium

The final game of the three-game set between the Detroit Tigers and New York Yankees has been anything but pretty.

Miguel Cabrera has pounded a pair of two-run homers for the Tigers, but New York has hit three home runs of their own as the Tigers cling to a 5-4 lead through three innings at Yankee Stadium.

Cabrera struck with Brennan Boesch on base in the first inning, driving a two-run shot to left field with two outs to give the Tigers the early lead. Then with Boesch on base again in the third, Cabrera jacked another home run to left to up the lead to 5-2.

The Yankees have not been without power of their own, however. Jorge Posada hit a two-run home run off Max Scherzer in the bottom of the second to knot the score at two apiece. Then in the bottom of the third, Mark Teixeira and Robinson Cano hit solo shots to right field to slice the lead to 5-4. Teixeira's homer was his third in as many games.

The Tigers are currently up to bat in the top of the fourth.
