Brad Penny gave up eight runs over 4 2/3 innings in his first start for the Detroit Tigers Saturday versus the Yankees. He’ll look to rebound against the Orioles, as the Tigers go for their first series win of the season.
Pitching for Baltimore is Chris Tillman, who was outstanding in his season debut. He held the Tampa Bay Rays without a hit for six innings, until he was pulled from the game after throwing 101 pitches.
If you missed the news earlier, the Tigers placed reliever Ryan Perry on the 15-day disabled list with an eye infection. Robbie Weinhardt was called up from Triple-A Toledo to take his place on the roster. And the Tigers will hope that can bring some stability to the seventh inning, which has been a shaky point for the bullpen thus far.
