Just two short weeks ago, the Detroit Tigers were on a seven-game losing streak, had a record that was five games below .500 and were eight games back of the first-place Cleveland Indians in the AL Central. Now, following a stretch where the Tigers have won 10 out of their last 11 games, Detroit is four games over .500 and only 3.5 games back in the AL Central. What a difference a couple weeks make.↵
Here is a look at the MLB standings for the AL Central as of Monday afternoon:↵
1. Cleveland Indians - 24-13
2. Detroit Tigers - 22-18 (3.5 GB)
3. Kansas City Royals - 20-19 (5 GB)
4. Chicago White Sox - 17-24 (9 GB)
5. Minnesota Twins - 12-26 (12.5 GB)
This week the Tigers host the Blue Jays for a two-game series, go to Boston for a two-game set against the Red Sox and then have an interleague series against the Pirates in Pittsburgh over the weekend. Next week Detroit will open a 10-game homestand that includes series against the Rays, Red Sox and Twins.
