A week ago, the Detroit Tigers were on a four-game winning streak and were poised to make a run at the first-place Cleveland Indians. Fast forward to Monday and the Tigers are now on a six-game losing streak and are a whopping 7.5 games back of first place. Talk about a quick collapse.
↵Here is a look at the MLB standings for the AL Central:
↵1. Cleveland Indians (19-8)
↵2. Kansas City Royals (15-3, 4.5 GB)
↵3. Detroit Tigers (12-16, 7.5 GB)
↵4. Chicago White Sox (10-19, 10 GB)
↵5. Minnesota Twins (9-18, 10 GB)
↵The Tigers' upcoming schedule includes four straight games against the first-place New York Yankees and then four in a row against the Toronto Blue Jays. Detroit needs a good week of baseball to not only stop this losing streak, but also to make sure Cleveland and Kansas City don't separate themselves in the division race. Obviously there is still a lot of baseball to be played considering May just started, but the Tigers will be in serious trouble if they don't turn things around soon.
