Detroit Tigers manager Jim Leyland was ejected during the seventh inning of Monday night's 4-2 win over the Toronto Blue Jays. Leyland put on quite a show and definitely got his money's worth before and even after the ejection. Take a look after the jump (yes, MLB.com now allows you to embed videos).
The argument and subsequent ejection resulted from home-plate umpire Alfonso Marquez correcting first-base umpire Ed Rapuano's call. Andy Dirks was clearly out (as you can see in the replays), but he was initially called safe at first by Rapuano. The original call was made after a slight hesitation, and after conferring with Marquez, Rapuano reversed his call.
Immediately Leyland stormed out of the dugout demanding an explanation, and after more than a minute of arguing and essentially reenacting the call, Leyland was finally thrown out. This didn't end Leyland's tirade, though. Leyland stayed out on the field to continue arguing the call for another couple minutes and continued shouting at the umps in the dugout before finally heading to the clubhouse.
To say the least, Leyland put on quite a hilarious show, and I have to say, it was probably the best ejection he's had during his time with the Tigers.
