MLB Schedule 2012: Tigers To Host Red Sox On Opening Day?

The 2012 MLB schedule isn't yet finalized, and it isn't expected to be until September. However, an early draft of next year's schedule for the Boston Red Sox has already leaked out. ESPN Boston's Gordon Edes outlined what the schedule looks like and in turn broke the news on which team the Detroit Tigers will play to start the season.

The Red Sox are scheduled to open the 2012 season against the Tigers in Detroit on April 5, according to an early draft of the major league schedule distributed to all 30 clubs and the players' union, according to a major-league source.

Opening Day in Detroit is always a big event, and the high demand for tickets reflects that. With the Red Sox set to come to town to get the 2012 season started, chances are the demand for seats will be even higher than usual considering a Tigers-Red Sox matchup is such an intriguing way to get the year started.

Also per Edes' report, the Tigers are set to make a trip to Boston to play at Fenway Park on Memorial Day.
