Of Course, Jim Thome's 600th Home Run Comes In Detroit

We put up a post shortly before tonight's Tigers game pointing out to fans that Jim Thome's 600th career home run could come in Detroit with the Twins in town for a three-game series and where you should sit if you want a chance at grabbing the historic 600th.

Of course, he hit two home runs in the opener for home runs No. 599 and No. 600, becoming just the 8th player in Major League history to hit that many home runs. Unfortunately, TiqIQ wasn't going to help you with finding seats where you could snag the 600th because his home run landed in the Tigers bullpen and the only way you were getting a seat in there was if you throw 90-plus with some movement or provide the seeds.

Thome hit a two-run shot in the 6th inning off of Rick Porcello and a three-run shot in the 7th inning off of Daniel Schlereth. Porcello and Schlereth were the 392nd and 393rd victims to give up taters to Thome. The home runs were Thome's 15th and 16th at Comerica Park during his 21-year career (he had another 11 homers at Tiger Stadium). Overall, Thome now has 65 hurtful dingers against the Tigers, the most he has against any team, which probably comes as no surprise to Tigers fans.
