The Detroit Tigers 2012 schedule came out on Wednesday, as did schedules for the rest of Major League Baseball.
As previously reported, the Tigers will open the 2012 season at home against the Boston Red Sox. Opening day for Detroit is on April 5, and the series will continue on April 7 and April 8. April also includes matchups at home with the Tampa Bay Rays, Texas Rangers, Seattle Mariners and Kansas City Royals. The Tigers' road schedule includes games at the Chicago White Sox, Royals and New York Yankees.
May's slate of games isn't kind to the Tigers. 19 of the Tigers' 29 games are on the road, and Detroit has its first road trip out west in this month. The Tigers also have their first interleague series, which brings the Pittsburgh Pirates to town for three games.
The Tigers continue interleague play in June with series on the road against the Cincinnati Reds, Chicago Cubs and Pirates. The Colorado Rockies and St. Louis Cardinals will come to Detroit as part of interleague play.
Fast forward to September and the schedule looks a lot like this year's slate of games. There are a number of matchups against AL Central opponents, including two series with the Minnesota Twins, White Sox and Cleveland Indians. The Tigers have a series against the Royals on the road at the start of October to wrap up the 2012 season.
