Doug Fister To Start For Tigers In Game 2 Of ALDS

Earlier on Thursday, I mentioned that Jim Leyland had not yet determined what his full rotation for the ALDS will look like. As it turns out, just hours later he announced that Doug Fister will get the start in Game 2 of the ALDS. We already knew Justin Verlander was going to start Game 1, and now the rotation appears to be set with the Fister news coming out:

Game 1: Justin Verlander

Game 2: Doug Fister

Game 3: Max Scherzer

Game 4: Rick Porcello

Game 5: Justin Verlander

Many have said that Verlander should start on short rest so he can take the hill again in Game 4, but Leyland made it clear on Thursday that he isn't even considering that idea.

"That will not happen," Leyland said as the Tigers got ready for Thursday night's game against the Orioles at Comerica Park.

If the Tigers are trailing two games to one or something and the season comes down to Porcello starting, I'm sure many will question the decision to wait on Verlander. To me the more Verlander, the better, but Leyland obviously is set in not pitching him on short rest.
