Tigers Vs. Yankees: New York Ties Game Without Recording A Hit; 1-1 After 1st Inning

The rain came and Justin Verlander struggled in the first inning after Derek Jeter was able to reach on a strikeout/wild pitch to start the game.

After Jeter reached, Verlander proceeded to get behind Curtis Granderson 3-0, come all the way back, and then walk him (wasteful). With two on and nobody out, Verlander got Robinson Cano to hit a ground ball to first, but Miguel Cabrera couldn't make the turn and made an awkward throw to Verlander at first for the out as both Jeter and Granderson moved up.

Verlander induced another grounder to Alex Rodriguez, but it played Brandon Inge and he couldn't throw home to get Jeter, taking the out at first instead. 1-1.

After walking Mark Teixeira with the rain really coming down, Verlander finally retired the side by getting Nick Swisher to ground out to the always-scary Ryan Raburn at second base.

All knotted up after one inning.
