It should come as no surprise that Austin Jackson has been named the American League's Player of the Week for the week of August 29 through September 4. Austin Jackson is the third Tigers player to be named A.L. Player of the Week this season. Justin Verlander has won the award twice this season (May 2-8 and June 13-19) and Victor Martinez has earned it once (May 9-15). That's almost 1/5 of the A.L. Player of the Weeks this year.
↵Austin Jackson was absolutely en fuego during the Tigers' homestand vs. the Royals and White Sox. In the seven games, he hit .529/.543/1.513, two home runs, three triples, three doubles, knocked in five runs, and scored 13 times. He also had two stolen bases in as many tries. He beat out Kansas City's Eric Hosmer for the reward, who hit .440/.484/1.324 with three home runs and nine runs scored.
↵To put Jackson's week into a bit of perspective, Victor Martinez hit an AL-high .579/.652/1.105 with four doubles, two home runs, and 11 RBIs when he won the A.L. Player of the Week.
