VIDEO: Miguel Cabrera Takes Ground Ball To The Face

During the bottom of the first inning of a spring training game against the Philadelphia Phillies, Detroit Tigers third baseman Miguel Cabrera took a one-hopper right to the face. The ball caught him in the right eye and left a nasty gash that appeared to be caused by his sunglasses. Cabrera remained standing and walked off under his own power, but he was covered in blood and had to leave the game as a result.

Here's a look at what happened (via Guyism):

Cabrera received stitches to close the nasty gash on his face, and he is having precautionary X-rays to make sure the ball didn't do any damage beyond carving him up. It didn't look like the injury was too serious since the glasses were likely responsible for the cut, but it's obviously better to be safe than sorry, especially when it's Miguel Cabrera who got hurt. That is not a player you want to mess around with if he might be hurt.
