Tigers Spring Training 2012: Detroit Improves To 3-0 In Grapefruit League With 4-2 Win Over Toronto Blue Jays

Justin Verlander picked up where he left off in his no-hitter last May against the Toronto Blue Jays throwing a 1-2-3 first inning en route to a scoreless two-inning Spring Training debut. Verlander gave up a hit in his second inning of work and had a strikeout.

The Tigers won their third straight in the Grapefruit League, 4-2, thanks to a two-run triple by Quintin Berry in the seventh and an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth from the Dominican hero Andy Dirks, who was one of the runs on Berry's triple.

Adam Wilk threw two scoreless innings and Joquin Benoit, Chris Bootcheck and Collin Balester each threw a scoreless frame, as well. Blue Jays' runs were scored off Phil Coke and David Pauley.

The Tigers only had seven hits and six of those came from hitters who will likely not be on the Opening Day roster.

The Tigers are back in action tomorrow against the Miami Marlines in Jupiter.
