Tigers Spring Training 2012: Detroit Beats Atlanta Braves Again, 5-1

For the third time this early Grapefruit season, the Detroit Tigers have beaten the Atlanta Braves. On Wednesday afternoon, the Tigers beat the Braves 5-1 to improve their record to an MLB Spring Training best 5-0.

After the Tigers scored four runs in the second inning, Miguel Cabrera slugged his first hit of the spring for a no-doubter solo home run in the third. Those five runs were all the Tigers would need.

The Tigers got an early evaluation of a couple of the candidates for the No. 5 spot. Jacob Turner started and struggled in his one-plus innings of work. He walked four batters and loaded the bases both innings before being relieved by Luis Marte who helped keep Turner's Spring Training ERA at zeros. Andrew Oliver threw the middle three innings and did not give up a hit, but did walk three batters. Octavio Dotel, Jose Valverde, and Joaquin Benoit also saw work.

The box score can be found here.
