The Detroit Tigers have finally named their No. 5 starting pitcher to open the 2012 campaign, and it will be Drew Smyly who will get the first crack at the job. The Tigers' official Twitter account broke the news early on Sunday, setting the stage for Smyly's debut game in the rotation against Tampa Bay on April 12th.
In addition to the Smyly news, the Tigers also sent relievers Brayan Villarreal and Duane Below to Triple-A, and, as Bless You Boys points out, appear to have settled the entire pitching staff in the process.
