Tigers Vs. White Sox: Detroit Loses 5-2 In Series Opener

Delmon Young (.292) hit a two-run home run in the seventh inning to cut the Chicago White Sox (4-2) lead to one run, but Ocatavio Dotel gave back two runs in the eight and the Detroit Tigers dropped to 5-2 on the season Friday.

Jake Peavy pitched six and 2/3 innings for the White Sox, surrendering two runs and striking out eight as he earned the win. Max Scherzer struck out 11 for the Tigers, but allowed three runs in six innings and took the loss.

Dayan Viciedo popped a solo home run to open the scoring for Chicago in the fifth inning, followed by two runs in the sixth inning. Hector Santiago closed out the game in the ninth inning for his third save of the season.
