Justin Verlander lost his first game since last July when he dropped a 4-2 decision to the Tampa Bay Rays, but he'll get a good chance to avenge himself in his next start on Monday, when the Detroit Tigers head over to Kansas City to start a three game series against the Royals. Verlander is 13-2 all time against the Royals and hasn't lost two games in a row since last April, so the stats are certainly on his side in this one.
Danny Duffy will take the mound for KC, going off a great first appearance that saw him strike out eight in six innings of work as he picked up a one hitter win against the Oakland A's.
The Royals are currently on a five game losing streak, while the Tigers were able to stave off a sweep by the Chicago White Sox to keep their record at a respectable 6-3 with a 5-2 win on Sunday.
The game will be at Kauffman Stadium at 8:10 p.m. ET.
