The Detroit Tigers and Texas Rangers complete their current four-game series on Sunday afternoon, after a long day at Comerica Park on Saturday resulted in each team winning a game in the day-night doubleheader.
Detroit will try to build on the nightcap that saw Justin Verlander slow down the hot Rangers and earn a 3-2 win for the Tigers after Texas took the first two games of the series. The Tigers will turn to young lefty Drew Smyly who will be put to the test in his third major league start against the heavy-hitting Rangers. Smyly has shown promise in his first two starts, both no decisions.
Texas will turn to veteran right-hander Colby Lewis on the mound to face the Tigers. Lewis has been pulling his weight in the Rangers' rotation with a 2-0 record and 1.83 ERA in three starts, also compiling 22 strikeouts to just one walk.
The game is scheduled to start at 1:05 p.m. ET and will be televised on Fox Sports Detroit.
