Detroit Tigers Make Pair Of Pitching Moves

The Detroit Tigers have made a pair of moves at pitcher, optioning Thad Weber to Toledo and purchasing the contract of Luke Putkonen from Toledo.

Brian Britten, the media relations director for the Tigers, tweeted the news Thursday morning:

Weber, 0-1, got tagged on Wednesday for three runs and seven hits in three innings of work. In his only other appearance this season, on April 22, Weber took the loss when he pitched one inning and gave up three hits and a run. He had a 9.00 ERA.

Putkonen, also a reliever, has pitched 13 innings in six games in triple-A, recording 10 strikeouts en route to a 1.00 ERA and 1.08 WHIP.

Detroit plays the Seattle Mariners at 1:05 ET Thursday.
