Former Detroit Tigers Infielder Brandon Inge Signed By Oakland

It was only a matter of time before his new destination would materialize, and it appears that recently-released Detroit Tigers infielder Brandon Inge will now be headed across the country to play with the Oakland Athletics. Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal broke the news on Twitter on Sunday during Detroit's battle with the Yankees.

Known for being a light-hitting organization that builds rosters based on specific criteria, the Athletics certainly coveted Inge's defensive ability and will hope to use him at a variety of places across the infield. Nonetheless, Inge had been ice cold against American League pitching in nine games with the Tigers, and was batting a putrid .100 on the year.

Inge had played with Detroit since he broke into the big leagues in 2001, and will now hope that a new locale can breath life into his rapidly-declining career arc.
