Delmon Young Suspended For 7 Days By MLB Following Arrest In New York

Detroit Tigers outfielder Delmon Young has been officially suspended by MLB, the league tweeted Monday.

Young was arrested last week outside of the Hilton Hotel in Manhattan after allegedly assaulting another man and yelling anti-Semitic slurs at him after a night of clubbing. He was placed on the restricted list by the Tigers Saturday morning in anticipation of the suspension.

Young is being charged with a hate crime and could face up to one year in prison if he is convicted. He was hitting .242 with 16 hits and 15 strikeouts in 66 at-bats so far this season.
