After not getting a hit until they had one out in the ninth inning on Friday night against Justin Verlander, the Pittsburgh Pirates didn't take long to register two hits off Tigers starter Drew Smyly on Saturday.
After Jose Tabata grounded out to short to start the game, Josh Harrison singled (again) on a bunt and Andrew McCutchen took a 1-2 four-seam fastball and deposited it into the seats in deep left for an early 2-0 Pirates lead.
McCutchen's bomb was an estimated 416 feet. He is now 9-for-13 against left-handed pitchers after taking Smyly deep. That's now the third home run in six innings Smyly has allowed.
The Tigers didn't response in the home half, but they will not be no-hit by A.J. Burnett -- Miguel Cabrera singled with two outs.
