Austin Jackson Injury Update: Tigers CF Could Return Tuesday Against Cleveland

When Austin Jackson was lost last Wednesday to an abdominal injury against the Minnesota Twins, the Detroit Tigers lost a lot of their offensive pop. Fortunately, the Tigers center fielder could be back in the lineup under a week after the injury.

After participating in team activities during the weekend but still feeling soreness when he tried to run, Jackson is now targeting Tuesday, when the Tigers start a series against the division leading Cleveland Indians, as a good return date.

"When I went to run, you know, try to get up to 80 percent at least, it didn’t feel that good," Jackson said Sunday. "It was still kind of hurting to run, so that’s why I’m thinking maybe a couple more days."

The Tigers will certainly welcome Jackson's bat back to the lineup -- he has hit an impressive .323/.409/.950 so far this season. They'll need the help against a hot Indians team that has taken the AL Central by storm in the first 40 games of this season.
