No more than an hour after it was announced that outfielder Austin Jackson would be making his return to the field after a four-game absence, manager Jim Leyland flipped the script and scratched Jackson from the lineup. The Tigers' Brian Britten announced on Twitter that utility man Don Kelly would take Jackson's spot in center field, while infielder Ramon Santiago will be bumped up to the No. 1 spot in the order.
Jackson has been scratched from tonight's lineup. Santiago will lead off and play second base. Kelly will bat ninth and play center field.

It's likely that Jackson simply didn't feel well enough in pre-game warm-ups to fully give it a go, and there was obviously no logical reason for Leyland to rush his budding star in the outfield back prematurely. Jackson should be able to get on the field for game two of the series tomorrow, but stay tuned with SB Nation Detroit's StoryStream for more updates on his condition.
