The Detroit Tigers will try to back up their strong showing on Friday night when they face the Minnesota Twins in the middle game of a three-game weekend series. The Tigers took out some offensive frustrations on the Twins Friday night by smacking 16 hits, including six doubles, in the 10-6 win.
Detroit desperately needed that win on Friday after getting swept in a three-games series by the Cleveland Indians earlier in the week. Now the Tigers hope they can build a little winning momentum with Max Scherzer on the mound. The right-hander has been up and down all season with a 3-3 record but did strike out 15 batters in seven innings to beat Pittsburgh in his last outing.
The Twins will counter with veteran right-hander Carl Pavano on the mound. Pavano is 2-3 on the season with a 4.91 ERA, including no decisions in his last two starts.
The game at Target Field will start at 2:10 p.m. EDT and will be televised on Fox Sports Detroit.
