After putting up 10 runs on 16 hits in Friday night's 10-6 win against the Minnesota Twins, the Detroit Tigers' bats are heating up.
The Tigers left 10 base runners on base in each of their three losses to the Cleveland Indians in the middle of the week, indicating that the bats were coming alive, but just not at the right time. On Friday night, they strung some hits together to finally put up some run support for Drew Smyly and they've carried that over into Saturday afternoon's game.
Through five innings of play, the Tigers have six runs on 10 hits. Against Carl Pavano in the fifth, they had six consecutive hits that plated four runs to chase Pavano from the game.
Andy Dirks has two hits and two runs batted in, Miguel Cabrera has two hits and Prince Fielder has his second consecutive three-hit game.
The Tigers currently lead 6-2.
