Pete Rose Glad He Doesn't Have To Face Justin Verlander

How do you take a guy who is the all time leader in hits for Major League Baseball and shake him? Introduce him to Justin Verlander, apparently.

Pete Rose was at the Indianapolis 500 on Sunday, and had some very nice words to say about the Tigers ace and best pitcher.

"I’m glad he’s in Detroit and I’m in Cincinnati and I don’t have to face him," answered Rose, who paid a visit to the media center at Indy. "If everybody was like him the batting champion would be hitting .260. He’s got good stuff, boy. It’s the same thing as facing (Juan) Marichal and (Sandy) Koufax and (Don) Drysdale and (Bob) Gibson and (Tom) Seaver … you’re just in the midst of the best pitcher in baseball."

Fortunately for those of us who enjoy home runs and high scoring games, not every pitcher is Verlander quality in the major league right now.
