The Detroit Tigers got a big boost in their last series, sweeping the Minnesota Twins while the AL Central leading Cleveland Indians got swept. Now the Tigers can gain more ground as they start a four game series at Fenway Park against the struggling Boston Red Sox.
Or at the very least, the Tigers can try to get back to .500 as they currently sit at 23-24 in what has been a disappointing season thus far. Of course, the disappointing Sox can relate, sitting in the AL East basement for most of this year with the same 23-24 record.
Game one, an early Memorial Day affair, will feature Doug Fister and Felix Doubront facing off on the hills. Fister has had little luck this year with a great 1.84 ERA but an 0-2 record to show for it. The Tigers offense has resurfaced in the Minnesota series, so he should get more help than usual against the Sox. Doubront has a 4-2 record and a 3.96 ERA so far on the season.
Detroit began the season with a sweep of the Sox at Comerica Park.
The game will be at Fenway Park at 1:35 p.m. ET.
