The Tigers-Red Sox game is currently in the middle of a rain delay in Boston. The Red Sox lead the Tigers 6-3 in the bottom of the eighth inning.
It was said early in the game that the rains were coming, possibly threatening Justin Verlander's consecutive starts streak of pitching at least six innings, but the weather held off until the home half of the eighth. (Verlander was able to make it through six innings, but he allowed five earned runs for the second time this season.)
Verlander exited the game trailing 5-3 and the Red Sox tacked on another run on a solo home run by David Ortiz in the bottom of the seventh off Duane Below.
There was one out and a 1-1 count to Nick Punto in the eighth before the rain became unplayable and the game was stopped, so the tarp could be pulled onto the field.
