On Friday afternoon, the Detroit Tigers activated troubled outfielder Delmon Young from the restricted list following the completion of his seven-day suspension by the MLB. Young's suspension was in response to his arrest last Friday morning stemming from an altercation outside his New York City hotel room. While Young has returned to the active roster, he is not expected to start on Friday night against the Chicago White Sox. However, he will be available to come in off the bench.
Just as Young's suspension has ended, so too has the Tigers' experiment with minor-league standout Brad Eldred. Per Jason Beck:
Eldred goes on outright waivers, so any other team that wants to take a shot with him can make claim. More likely he goes back to @MudHens.

After going on a tear at Triple-A Toledo, the 31-year-old was brought onto the Tigers' roster when the team released Brandon Inge on April 26. When Young was suspended, it provided Eldred the perfect opportunity to earn a role.
After going 3-for-16 with an RBI and six strikeouts, Eldred failed to make the necessary impression to keep him with Detroit. In order to make room for Young, the Tigers were forced to designate him for assignment. If no team claims Eldred, he will likely return to Toledo.
