Tigers Vs. Mariners: Justin Verlander Takes The Hill For Detroit

After coughing up a victory Monday, the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday will try to even their three-game series with the Seattle Mariners.

It should help the cause that Justin Verlander will start for Detroit. Verlander is coming off an eight-inning, seven-strikeout, two-run performance against the Royals. On the year he is 2-1 with a sterling 2.38 ERA.

Not that starting pitching was an issue Monday night. Doug Fister pitched seven scoreless innings, but the bullpen -- Octavio Dotel in particular -- let it slip away.

The Tigers offense will go up against Kevin Millwood, who is 0-3 this season with a 5.34 ERA. The Tigers have scored just 14 runs over their last five games, so Millwood's inflated ERA is a welcome sight.

Detroit comes into the game 14-14 and three games back on the Cleveland Indians in the AL Central.
