Tigers Vs. Cubs Final Score: Detroit Falls In Series Opener Against Chicago, 4-3

The Detroit Tigers had a three-run seventh inning that appeared to give them at least enough momentum to force extra innings against the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday night, but a throwing error on Jhonny Peralta in the eighth inning allowed Chicago to prevail with a 4-3 victory in the series opener.

Detroit trailed 3-0 going into the seventh inning, but that changed when Ramon Santiago hit an RBI single to left center field to score Delmon Young.

Then center fielder Austin Jackson dropped a two-RBI single to shallow left field that scored Peralta and Quintin Berry. Detroit just couldn't hold on in the end.

Carlos Marmol got the win for Chicago, while Phil Coke was charged with the losing effort.
